The dark waiting

The closing documents are with my attorney. The city inspection is scheduled for tomorrow morning, and the closing is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. The fund are being wired to my account in the morning. Thousands of dollars seem to have evaporated somewhere in all the transfers. My first round of desired fixes are off to the contractor for a quote. Agent still hasn’t sent me the final quote to start home insurance. Asbestos removal quote is higher than I’d hoped, but less than I’d feared.

I put on my headphones and try to concentrate on work. I decided to skip a visit to the house today. Every time I think of it, I feel tightness in my chest.

Will the funds clear in time? Will my attorney find fatal problems? Will the inspector find bankrupting-levels of problems I previously missed? Will the missing money be found? Will the insurance agent return my frantic calls tomorrow? Will the entire house burn to the ground when I turn on the electricity after I close?

All this and more when our hero’s journey continues tomorrow.

  1. Relax, Lincoln. It's all just a game.

Some day soon we can share closing-day war stories over a cup of tea.
  2. And so the next chapter of "The History of the Sullivan House" begins... Good luck Lincoln and I hope to see ICHQv2 soon!
  3. It's been a complete whirlwind of a day; Right before Matt got home, my dad showed up for computer help and while he was here, Matt came home for a split second and then left for martial arts. I think he bought the house, but there are a lot of issues and complications. I can't speak for him. I really don't know what's actually going on at the moment.
  4. So, so, so excited for you guys! Can't wait to hear how everything goes with the first steps towards moving into this incredible home (mansion).
