Detroit City Council redistricting

Today the Detroit City Council announced the redistricting plan that was required by the new City Charter. Four options were proposed by the council, and a fifth was proposed by Data Driven Detroit (we'll call them D3). D3 used data and statistics to draft their own map of where council districts should fall.

Despite the data, city council has chosen "Option 3" of their redistricting plan:

This plan splits downtown into two separate districts among other things.

How do you feel about the redistricting? Many people I follow are not thrilled with this plan. There have been accusations of gerrymandering and self-serving.

    This is ridiculous. Midtown is split in half and Woodbridge is grouped with the entire south west of the city. D3's Option 5 made tremendously more sense. More bullshit politics from the city council, may they all get tossed out of office. I'll be registered to vote in the city before the next election.
